Blog Post #11

I would like to learn how to work with IMovie and Ipads more. I feel like IMovie has a lot of potential to teach students how to learn a concept in a creative manner. IMovie makes it easier to create quality videos and mini films without a whole lot of hassle. However, I have not made a lot of projects using IMovie and I'd like to learn how to. The Ipad I have is several years old and I still don't completely understand how to use it. For example, I know how to download apps but I don't know which apps are the most helpful with learning. I will achieve this goal by using Google to discover education-based learning apps and I will make miniature films using IMovie on my Ipad.  Check out my comments on  Marguax's  and  Gabi's  blogs!

My plan on technology professional development as a teacher is to use blogs and Twitter. I enjoy blogging with other students in this EME2040 course and I am interested in blogging with other teachers! I feel like I could learn a lot about how to apply more technology in the classroom by discussing it with other teachers online. I also feel as though I have done the same with Twitter! I never knew that so many educators use Twitter daily to connect with each other/spread new ideas about getting students to learn the most in the classroom and beyond. I figured out how to add sounds, different transitions, and video recording of myself on PowerPoint through the two PowerPoint assignments. I liked how I included the videos of myself for my first PowerPoint when I was explaining the assignment I created. However, I would like to plan out what I'm going to say more in the videos by writing it down next time. I liked how I was able to choose the topic for the second PowerPoint and in...

"The Flipped Classroom" is a class that incorporates instruction outside of the classroom in addition to instruction in the classroom. This is usually done through providing assignments and instruction online to enhance learning. "The Flipped Classroom" is a nontraditional form of learning and instruction. It's beneficial to students because it keeps the learning process going no matter where they are located as long as they have access to a computer. I wish I had been given more online instructional tools when I was in grade school, I believe that "The Flipped Classroom" is every classroom's future! The digital divide is a fancy way of saying that some students have easier access to technology, such as computers/tablets, than others. The causes of digital divide vary, but it's primarily because of financial or geographical reasons. This is because some students may not be able to afford to access the technology or they may live in a rural ...

Assistive and adaptive technologies are used in the classroom to help children with disabilities the chance to learn and perform just as well in class as any able-bodied child could. I personally have not used and have not known anyone who has used assistive and adaptive technologies. I don't think that using the adaptive technologies in the classroom would be challenging, however, I do feel as though gaining assess to these technologies would be. I feel as though every student is unique and even if two children have the same disability they may want to use a different form of technology in the classroom to help them.   I envision myself using technology such as WebQuests, tablets, and PowerPoint to accomplish my professional responsibilities more efficiently and effective. The WebQuest assignment helped teach me that teachers can use websites as a way to help supplement their in-person instruction. I like how interactive PowerPoint can be if you use the right tools that ar...

I Googled "teacher pages" and found the teacher pages to Jupiter Community High School. The teacher pages did not include much public information other than the names, email addresses, and grade levels that the teachers taught. I think this makes sense because it probably would not be the safest idea to publish too much information publicly on the internet. I personally never knew that teacher pages existed prior to this assignment, so it's pretty cool to learn more about it! Here's the  link   to the website I used! I have not had much experience with blogging prior to creating this blog! I did create a blog using Blogger during my senior year of high school/freshman year of college. However, I felt as though it was a bit tedious to keep up with so I decided to delete it. The good news is that my prior experiences with blogging have made me more familiar with the assignments for the EME2040 course and beyond! I enjoy reading blog posts from other students in...

Post #6 Academic Software for Students/Twitter

Two software tools that I would like to implement in my future classroom are Prezi and Quizlet! One of my science teachers in middle school introduced my class to Prezi to help us create more organized and interactive presentations than PowerPoint. As a student in middle school, I found it a lot easier and more fun to use. While PowerPoint does allow for more creative freedom, Prezi instantly offers interactive templates. I want my future students to know that there is other software that can be used for digital presentations. Quizlet is a resource that I wish more of my teachers advocated for because it helps to promote healthy learning interaction with other students and good study habits. I want my students to use all of the resources they can online to help them study in order to save time and fully comprehend all of the content they were taught in class.  I have absolutely loved the time I've spent on Twitter so far! I've been using the #fsu2040 to connect with othe...

The ninth and tenth grade ELA technology standards that I feel most prepared to teach with my existing knowledge are how to look up the meaning of unfamiliar words. I am comfortable using online software that acts like a physical copy of dictionary or thesaurus online. I have made myself familiar with software like Wordsmyth and Dictionary.com and I feel like I would be able to proficiently explain how to use the resources in a classroom setting. However, I am not as familiar with the ELA standard of using "advanced searches" effectively. I personally have a bad habit of always using either Google Scholar or FSU library resources online to conduct research for my own college assignments. I am not familiar with any other advanced searching engines that are readily available on the internet, but I would like to learn more about them! One of the CPALMS Educator Toolkits that gained my interest was the 9-12 grade English Language Arts  Rhetoric and Point of View in "Th...
